Tom Nantais and I have worked together over the last ten years in a variety of searches ranging from sales and technology through the level of Directors of Sales and Director of Technology. In each and every case, Tom has demonstrates consistent and effective results. He has a process, which I find invaluable in attracting, interviewing, and selecting the best people for the position. I view key steps in the process as follows: Definition of the Role: Tom is very clear about defining the role so he can target the right search efforts. He defines the role and the results desired including areas of flexibility. Definition of the Ideal Candidate: Tom helps develop an excellent picture of the ideal person for the position by working through the expectations of winning in the job, who does it best in the industry today and why. This helps define the bull’s eye for the candidate. Company Offer: The candidate obviously wants to know about the company and what the company would be in a position to offer. Tom helps define what out strengths and weaknesses are compared to our competition and why a candidate would want to come to work for your company. He truly looks at the overall picture, not only salary, to develop a winning position for the candidate and for the company. Communications: Tom communicates as appropriate. In the beginning, daily communications are important; in the middle, there can be less communication but Tom continues to drive for clarity and provide feedback on where he is in the search and what the candidates are saying, charting mid-course corrections if needed; closer to the end of the process returning to daily updates as finalizing the details is critical. Timing: Tom establishes a proposed time frame to identify a list of candidates, prescreen them to choose the top ones, send the resumes, set up the interviews, get feedback, do second rounds interviews, make the offer, and have the candidate accept the offer. Results: Tom has always presented only top-notch candidates. He has an excellent track record in overcoming the challenges of closing the top performers who are normally not actively seeking a job change. Tom has the experience, ability and the professionalism to make things happen, on time, and within the expectations established. He makes recruiting a solid business experience for all involved. He is my first and last call in recruiting. |
